The Katsina State Government has expressed readiness to partner with the ‘Dambe’ Warriors League (DWL) to promote traditional boxing in the state.
Dr Bala Salisu-Zango, the state Commissioner for Information and Culture said this during the ‘Dambe’ competition organised by the DWL in Katsina on Sunday.
”We are going to partner with the DWL to make dambe sport more interesting in the state.
”We are also going to promote this centre so that people around the world can come here to watch Dambe.
“As you can see, we have the best dambe arena in the coutry,” he said.
He assured dambe fans in the state that the government would soon organise an inter-local government Dambe competition in the state.
Earlier, the co-founder of the DWL, Mr Chidi Anyina said the competition is a league organised seasonally.

”The event taking place here in Katsina is season III. The finals for this season comes up in Abuja.
”In this season, six fighters will participate here in each of the three weight categories. From here we are going to Niger and Kano States,” he said.
He said that the ”King of Dambe” would be crowned in Abuja and cash donations would be given. (NAN)
