By Gracious Akujobi Former Chairman of Gombe State Football Association and Gombe United FC has disclosed that Kano State Government has gone into productive partnership with the private sector to improve the sporting facilities in the state.
He said, “In any circumstance when you have a work plan and you achieve over 60% on it that is above average and it means you have succeeded. Secondly, security of project is also paramount because I do not think some of the things we are trying to do will be white elephant projects”
“The Kano Sports institute is 85% completed and I am pretty sure by March,2014,the place will be fully integrated. The only thing remaining now is the completion of the mini stadium inside the complex and the female hostel”
Gombe who is now the Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Sports also assured that the sporting legacy would be sustained irrespective of the government in power.
“I do not think some of the projects we are carrying out now will be abandoned projects. Governance is a continuous thing and a new governor will not take over and decide to abandon the projects his predecessor started. “The contracts of all the projects we have entered into have been signed and money paid, so all the projects will have to be completed no matter who is at the helms of affair”, Gombe assured.
It will be recalled that Kano Pillars Basket ball team won the Savannah conference of the DSTV Basket ball league of 2013 and the football team also won the Glo Premier league 2013.
