By Gracious Akujobi Nigerian league champions Kano Pillars FC have their eyes set on winning this year’s CAF Africa Champions League (ACL) as well as the Nigeria Premier League crown for the fourth successive time.
Technical Adviser, Okey Emordi disclosed this when members of the committee set up by Kano State Government to prosecute the team’s participation in the African Champions League visited them at their training ground.
He said “Pillars having reached the semi final of the ACL once look ripe to go step further by winning the trophy this time around. We are overwhelmed by the physical, moral and financial support from the state government and people and the only way to appreciate this gesture is to win the cup for them”.
Emordi concluded by assuring that they will try to win all the competitions that are available this season.
Earlier, Kano Pillars FC Continental Committee led by its vice Chairman, Ibrahim Galadima, urged the players and officials to be focused and committed to the task ahead, assuring them of the state Executive Governor’s support for the team.
“Because of Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso’s love and total believe in this team, he appointed his deputy as the Chairman of this continental committee and for this reasons, you have to reciprocate the gesture by being worthy representative of Kano in particular but the country in general.
“We are going to work hand in hand with the club management to ensure that you meet our expectations, we are impressed with the quality of players recruited and we believe that with dedication and commitment you would excel” the former NFF President said.
He charged the team to use the forth coming Super Six tourney to prepare for their Champions League clash against Maleika FC of South Sudan on February 14 or 15.
He said after the Super Six tourney in Abuja, the team will go into a closed camping outside Kano from where they will travel to South Sudan.
