As the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees(BOT), Tony Anenih turns 80, political heavyweights gathered in Abuja to honour him at a special church serve.
The service held at Our Lady Queen Catholic Cathedral, Garki, had in attendance, President Goodluck Jonathan and wife, Patience, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senate President David Mark.
Also in attendance were Governors Emmanuel Uguaghan- Delta, Seriake Dickosn- Bayelsa Liyel Imoke- Cross Rivers and Peter Obi of Anambra, Chief Edwin Clarke, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma and wife, Daisy.
Others were Ministers, Presidential aides, former Governors Alao Akala of Oyo and Segun Oni of Ekiti, the National President of Christians Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Bishop Martins Kukah, the Executive Secretary of the Christians Pilgrims Board, John Kennedy-Okpara.
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, in his sermon called on all human being to see themselves as mortals irrespective of their wealth and positions in the society.
He also counseled those in position of authorities to sue their positions and wealth to the benefit of the people, saying successes and achievements on earth are ephemeral and vanity, therefore, men should gravitate towards holiness and eternity.
Cardinal Onaiyekan prayed that God should grant the for the former Minister of works, Anenih, more years in good health.
