President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday held a closed door talks with the Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south-west at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The thrust of the discussion could not be ascertained immediately but was attended by four governors.
In attendance were: Governors Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun).
They arrived at the State House around 4.00 pm and were led to the president’s office by the Chief of Staff, Brigadier-General Jones Oladeinde Arogbofa (rtd).
However, Governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), also an APC Governor and Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo) of Labour Party were absent at the talks.
After the meeting, Fayemi told State House correspondents, “We came to see the President and it is in connection with issues of national importance. It’s for the development of the southwest.”
On his part, governor Amosun said: “That is why it is called private meeting.”
Asked what their mission was, Governor Fashola said: “We came to see the President.”
