Apparently to escape the economic hardship and the political tension in Nigeria, more and more Nigerians especially the youths are in Japa mode.
They are now leaving the country in droves in search of the proverbial greener pastures abroad.
Prompt News investigations revealed that Nigerians especially the youths are crowding the foreign embassies in Nigeria to seek for travelling papers which will enable them to leave the country in what has been dubbed ‘Japa‘
Yet, many others are leaving Nigeria through illegal ways especially the sprawling borders in Lagos, Ogun, Taraba, Adamawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Cross Rivers, Borno, etc.
However, the easiest and quickest way for Nigerian youths to migrate in search of better lives is the study abroad programme offered them by various international organisations operating in Nigeria.
One of such opportunities to Japa or migrate abroad is the IDP, International Education Specialist programme tagged Study World which is offering thousands of Nigerian youths the opportunity to study abroad.
As at the time of filing this report thousands of Nigerian youths are storming a five star hotel in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja to attend the IDP Study World interview hoping to be selected to study overseas.
Conducted by IDP Education Limited, an international education organisation offering student placement in Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Republic of Ireland and Canada.
Many Nigerian youths especially those who have graduated for many years without any prospects of landing a job in Nigeria are turning up everyday in their numbers to participate in the interview.
A visit to one of the interview centers in the Central Business District (CBD) during the week showed that thousands of young Nigerians are eager to leave the country without a second thought as can be attested by some of the applicants interviewed.
According to a participant, Samuel Johnson from Ogun state, his friend Mukaila Adedeji informed him of the IDP Study World and he decided to come to try his luck, adding that he will not want to continue to waste his youthful years in Nigeria without any hope of getting a decent job to start his life.
His views was collaborated by Emmanuella Okere from Imo state who is fervently praying that she scales through the IDP interview to Japa thus study abroad.
She said heard about the programme from a friend and decided to come to Abuja to attend the interview.
She claims a child of nobody does not get a job in Nigeria as the jobs are reserved for only the children of corrupt politicians and civil servants who have continued to dominate the space in the country.
For Haruna Danjuma Paiko, there is no better opportunity to leave Nigeria than to study abroad where all the hardship facing him in the country will be a thing of the past, stressing the fact that the grass is greener elsewhere than in Nigeria.
“Look at the huge number of Nigerian youths who turned up to be interviewed, some are for study while others are for work abroad, this will tell you that no youth wants to stay in Nigeria to suffer the harsh which increases everyday without any hope of getting better”, another participant who pleaded anonymity.
All those who spoke insists that the quickest way to survive the Nigerian situation is to leave the country and they will explore every legitimate means, including the opportunity to study abroad to leave the country for the corrupt politicians and their enablers in the civil service.

IDP has more than 190 offices in 35 countries and 2,200 counsellors just as it partners with University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and the British Council for IELTS tests.
More than 3 million IELTS tests were undertaken around the world in 2018 and over 11,000 organisations rely on IELTS including governments for migration assessment, universities for admissions and employers and professional registration bodies.
There are over 3,000 IELTS test centres globally.
