The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday made public the timeline of attacks on its offices by unscrupulous Nigerians between 2019 and 2022 which have led to huge loss to the electoral umpire.
According to the graphics documents made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday by Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Commission recorded the highest number of attacks on its offices in 20.
The documents titled: Timeline of Attacks on INEC offices TIMELINE OF between 2019 and December 2022, read in parts:
“These are attacks as a result of election-related violence, protests unrelated to elections and activities of thugs and unknown gunmen.
“The list does not include damages to facilities as a result of fire accidents, natural disasters such as flooding or rain/wind storms, the snatching/destruction of electoral materials during election, burglary and attack on election duty officials”.
