As the spate of insecurity in Imo state escalates less than two months to the off cycle governorship election scheduled for November 11, only the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Athan Nneji Achonu-led government can aggressively fight and subdue it through a deliberate Agro-Security Policy contained in his well thought out Manifesto.
This was the position of Dr. Nnaemeka Onyeka Obiaraeri, Director of Strategy and Planning, Senator Athan Achonu Campaign Council while speaking at Arise News television breakfast programme The Morning Show monitored in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him the spate of insecurity in the state can be brought to the barest minimum with a good state policy which will discourage the youths from engaging in crimes and criminality, positing that Senator Achonu has the blueprint to make that happen if he is voted in as the next governor of Imo state.
Said he: “Stopping insecurity in Imo state is very simple thing to do for any serious governor. It’s all about have a strategy to solve a particular problem.
Luckily, Senator Achonu has come up with a strategy to combat head on in Imo state if he becomes the next governor.
“His government will use an Agro-Security Policy contained in the well thought out Manifesto of the Labour Party which the Distinguished Senator is the candidate. He understands that the fact that Imo youths need jobs and will deploy them in agricultural sector”.
Speaking further Dr. Obiaraeri who is a Certified Financial Engineer/Investment Banking Executive with broad experience/skills in all aspects of Equities & Debts Origination, Structuring, Execution, Syndication, and Distribution; Project Finance said that security is key hence Achonu will use agriculture to engage the youths and by the time they are gainfully employed, crime will drastically reduce and subsequent disappear in Imo state.
However, the Alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge Massachusetts, United States of America (USA) has alleged that the Imo state government is culpable in the insecurity in the once peaceful state in the South East region.
According to him the present government should explain to the Imo people what happened to the nine Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) which the Labour Party flagbearer (Achonu) paid Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing (IVM) in Nnewi, Anambra state to repair for the use of the security forces in Imo state.
“Questions should be asked on why insecurity has been festering in Imo state. As a very concerned citizen, Senator Achonu took it upon himself to pay Innoson Motors to repair nine Armoured Vehicles to enhance the fight against insecurity in Imo state but some persons in the state are using the Armoured Vehicles to carry ballot boxes on election days”, Dr. Obiaraeri alleged.
The Imo State Labour Party Campaign Council Strategist also claimed that Senator Achonu rebuilt some of the Police stations burnt by hoodlums in many parts of the state in a bid to ensure that the state is at peace with itself.
Dr. Obiaraeri insists that if Senator Achonu is elected the governor of Imo state, he will be attracting huge Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) to the tune of N65 billion to rejig the economic activities in the state.
Meanwhile, another member of Senator Athan Achonu’s Labour Party Campaign Council, Chief Nick Opara-Ndudu has disagreed with the Imo state government’s narrative that the insecurity in the state is politically motivated. READ ALSO:

Opara-Ndudu who featured on the programme alongside Dr. Obiaraeri, said he does not agree that killings in the state are politically motivated, asking why has nobody been apprehended and prosecuted by the state government.
Said he: “I am one person who does not agree that killings in the state are politically motivated. If this so why has nobody been apprehended and prosecuted by the state government. I am yet see one person the state government has paraded and prosecuted for being responsible for the so-called “politically motivated killings in Imo state, not one person”.
Opara-Ndudu also argued that the massive borrowing by Governor Hope Uzodinma administration to fix federal government roads in the state is terrifying and assured that Senator Achonu’s administration will not follow the route when elected as the next governor of Imo state.
