The immediate Past Captain of IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, Oseni Ahmed says it was God that gave him the patience and endurance to serve off his tenure as Captain of the prestigious club.
The former Club’s Competition Secretary disclosed this at a farewell interaction with Journalists at the Club house.
He lamented the pull down syndrome among some members over some of the policies and programmes he embarked upon after assuming office in April last year.
” I think God just gave me the patience to complete my tenure. Some people just sit down here and their aim is to pull you down, they will just be lying”, he said.
While speaking on the achievemeny achievements recorded during his 12 months in office, the Edo State born Quantity Surveyor said he had to step on toes in order to arrest the wastages that left the club in N277 millions deficits before he was elected.
“We introduced the token course of N500 on July 1st, 2018 which has helped the club to generate an average of N2.3 Million per month over the period and this and other means are what we used in paying some of this debt and it was cut down to N13 million by the end of December, last year. This is part of my campaign promises”.
When asked by journalists if he could substantiate his claim, the former Captain said, “Am a very documented person, everything that we did while here, I have it documented.”
Other achievements mentioned include securing the Club’s boarders, purchasing prepaid electric meters, lighting of hole 9 and hole 18 and tennis section, Clearing of water ways, repairing of the erosion of shoreline and provision of Cart Bays Car Wash and additional Car parking spaces.”
Oseni Ahmed said all Exco acquired a phone line dedicated for receiving bank transaction alerts. This became necessary for obvious reasons to ensure that only approved transactions reflect in our bank accounts.
“I was able to serve out my tenure, at one point, I wanted to resign”, the Avid golfer lamented.
He however promised to support the newly elected Captain, Sola Awoyungbo who was his vice captain while in office
