Former Super Eagles defender, Ben Iroha, has categorically denied insinuations that he used his positions as assistant coach to various national teams to booster his act of inviting and selling players.
Iroha has come under fire from various quarters as one of the coaches who invites players not on merit but on how much money they could offer to be in camp also later to be sold to foreign clubs.
Prompt News Online took on the coach who had assisted coaches at Super Eagles, U-23, U-20 and U-17 levels and he denied ever inviting players for money or selling players either.
“I am being wrongly accused” he began, stating further, “It is a case of giving a dog a bad name to hang it. I don’t sell players and I don’t have the power to impose players on chief coaches I have served under”
“I challenge any player or agent who claims to have given me money to get invitation to come and prove it that I invite and sell players. I am not an agent so I don’t sell players. I have not been a chief coach at any of the national teams, so I don’t have the final say on players’ invitation”.
He continued “By God’s grace, I am a qualified and experienced coach. I know my worth and I would not want to tarnish my hard earned name as player and coach for the peanuts the players or agents will give me”.
A member of the all conquering class of 1994 Super Eagles who won the AFCON for Nigeria for the second time boasted that he has what it takes to handle the Flying Eagles and surpass their previous records at world stage
