Nigeria’s Home Eagles have qualified for the 2024 African Nations Championship after a comfortable 3-1 victory over perennial rivals Ghana at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday night.
The Eagles will be making a return to the competition after missing the last two editions.
It was a dominant display from the hosts, who scored three goals in six first half minutes.
Sodiq Ismail opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a well-placed shot that found the back of the net.
Just three minutes later, Nduka Junior doubled the lead, showcasing the team’s attacking prowess and ability to capitalize on opportunities.
Saviour Isaac added a third goal in the 24th minute, further solidifying Nigeria’s control of the match.
Substitute Amankona Stephen reduced the deficit for the visitors 18 minutes from time.
