The home-based Super Eagles have started preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship, Prompt News reports.
21 players took part in the team’s first training session at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Monday night.
The remaining 14 players are expected to hit camp on Tuesday (today).
Head coach Eric Chelle named a 35-man provisional list for the competition last week.
The team is expected to engage in series of friendlies while in camp.
Nigeria will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in Group D at the CHAN 2024 finals.
Chelle’s side will start their campaign against Senegal at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar on Tuesday, 7 August.
They will take on Sudan in their next game at the same ground on Tuesday, 12 August.
Nigeria’s last group game against Congo will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Tuesday, 19 August.
The top two teams in the group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
The home- Eagles came second at the 2016 edition hosted by Morocco, and failed to qualify for the last editions of the competition.
CHAN is tournament designed for players featuring in their countries domestic leagues.
