No fewer than 103 people have been killed in separate attacks as gunmen invaded four villages in Katsina state.
The villages attacked are in Faskari and Sabuwa local government areas of the state. President Goodluck Jonathan is currently on a two-day state visit to Katsina.
It was gathered that the armed men, numbering about 90 rode on motorcycles. They were said to have killed seven people including the Ward Head (Maiunguwa) at Koran Mota village.
They also invaded other villages including Umguwar Rimi, killing people at random before they fled.
According to the Chief Imam of Maigora Vilage, some of the gunmen were in soldiers’ uniform while others put on the Fulani attire.
“So far, 69 bodies have been recovered from the attacks carried out by a large group of gunmen riding on motorcycles.
“The victims include men, women and children. Rescue teams are still combing nearby bushes in search for more bodies, Abbas Abdullahi Michika, a member of the State House of Assembly told AFP.
However, the state Commissioner of Police, Hurdi Mohammed, could only confirm 3o dead.
