The Lagos State Government has congratulated Nigeria music stars, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, and Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid for their wins at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
The congratulatory message is contained in a statement signed by Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, on Wednesday in Lagos.
Akinbile-Yussuf described the feat attained by the duo as very historic and motivational.
The commissioner said the awards were boost for the country’s entertainment scene and a special recognition for the state, being the hub of entertainment and the start-point for most Nigerian Hip-Hop artistes.
“This Grammy Awards for two of our music stars show persistency, vision, tenacity, sense of purpose and the desire to break even in a very competitive music genre,” she said.
Akinbile-Yussuf urged the up-coming artistes to be motivated by the feat attained by the winners.
She said, “anything that can be dreamt of, can also be achieved, provided one is determined to remain focussed.”
