The Special Adviser on Special Education to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Hajiya Hajara Danyaro has donated face masks and hand sanitizers to the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Nasarawa state chapter.
Hajiya Danyaro made this donation at the Correspondents Chapel office in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Mrs Danyaro stated that her donation is geared towards making sure that journalists are well protected while carrying out their duties.
“Because of your kind of job, you people are exposed to more hazardous environments than any other people. You can easily get infected,” she said.
She maintained that “it is for this reason, I decided to come and share with you people my own contribution to the men of the press, face masks and hand sanitizers”.
Mrs Danyaro explained that the face masks are crested with PRESS tagged on it so that the press can be easily identified wherever they go, while the hand sanitizers are pocket sized so that they can easily be carried around.
Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, Mr Isaac Ukpoju who received the Special Assistant appreciated the kind gesture.
“Like you rightly acknowledged, we are at risk but we have to do our jobs to educate and inform the people about the Virus,” he said.
He called on other individuals to take a cue from what she had done to acknowledge what the media is doing to ensure that COVID-19 pandemic is eradicated from Nasarawa State.
