Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has charged traditional rulers across the state to fish out miscreants disturbing the peace of the communities so as to allow investors carry out their businesses in rural communities of the state.
Sule said this during the security meeting held at the government house in Lafia,on Wednesday.
“I also want to call on you, just like his royal highness, the Emir of Lafia has called upon, and as well as general Ali has called upon, to fish out all the people who are not interested in ensuring that we have peace in the areas of kidnapping and banditry, “ he said.
Sule pointed out that investors can only be interested to start up companies and businesses in areas where there is peace and security.
He revealed that Azman Rice Mill and Farms Limited, which acquired 15,000 hectares of land and paid all the land compensation to the various communities and mobilized their equipment to the site.
“But unfortunately, part of the area is also the area we are having challenges today, so we have not been able to commence immediately because of some of these challenges,” he said.
“So you see, if Azman begins operation, similar to what other companies have begun, like in Doma, Awe and other places, you’ve seen the number of employment opportunities that have been created,” he maintained.
The governor appealed to the traditional rulers and chiefs to assist the government by sensitizing their people on the dangers of coronavirus and ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines in their communities.
Earlier, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage thanked the royal fathers for honoring the invitation to discuss crucial security challenges faced by the rural communities.
He appealed to them to render necessary support and information to security agents that will lead to the arrest of criminals who set camp in their communities.
Present at the meeting were traditional rulers, village chiefs, Overseers, Fulani community leaders and heads of security agencies across the 13 local government areas of the state.
