Gov Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa has restated his administration’s commitment to economic development of the state.
Sule said this on Tuesday when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Nasarawa State, paid him a courtesy visit in Lafia.
He said that his administration has created a favourable business environment which has attracted huge investments; both local and foreign for the benefit of the people.
The governor said that one of such investors is the Dangote Group, investing in the construction of a Sugar refinary in Tunga, Awe Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, some of the investments have long-term benefits that will outlive his administration.
“I want let you know that we have a team from Dangote Company currently in the state for the commencement of sugar factory.
“The process for the production of sugar takes time. It is not possible to cultivate the 68,000 hectares of land in Tunga, Awe all at once.
“What you need to do is to start with 100 hectares, if the location is good for the production of sugar cane, then you will expand the production from 100 hectares to 1,000 hectares to 10,000 hectares.
“Then you have to establish a factory for the production of sugar that is how the production of sugar works,” Sule added.
The governor appreciated members of the Chapel for publicising government activities in the state and called for its sustenance.
He urged them to continue to adhere strictly to their professional ethnics in the interest of peace and development.
Also speaking, Mr Ibrahim Addra, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, lauded the chapel for the smooth working relationship with the state government.
Earlier, Mr Isaac Ukpoju, Chairman of the Chapel said the visit was to further strengthen the relationship between the media and government as partners in progress.
He appreciated Sule for all his friendly disposition towards the media and called for more collaboration for the benefit of the people.(NAN)
