Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, has awarded a N1 billion contract for general rehabilitation of Argungu General Hospital in Argungu Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris announced this at the flag-off for the construction of 1km road in Argungu town on Tuesday.
“I have awarded the general rehabilitation of Argungu general hospital and the total contract sum is N1 billion.
“The amount covers total rehabilitation N500 million, while procurement of modern equipment will also gulp another N500 million.
“Just like what I always say, that this government is people-oriented and we will do everything humanly possible to protect people’s lives and property.
“We want the people of the state to have modern health facilities in all our general hospitals in the state,” he said.
Idris lauded the National Organising Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad- Argungu, who facilitated the construction of 1km road in Jarman Kabi road in Shagari Quarters of Argungu town.
He also urged all other elected and political office holders in the state to emulate the organising secretary to influence projects and services that have direct bearing on lives of their people.
While appreciating the people of Argungu Emirate for their overwhelming reception any time he visit the emirate, the governor assured that he had fulfilled over 80 per cent of his campaign promises to the Emirate Council.
Earlier, the national organising secretary appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his magnanimity in approving the project as well as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Atiku Bagudu for playing a significant role in facilitating the project.
He commended Gov. Idris for proving to the people of Kebbi that he was once a teacher by establishing a primary school and junior secondary school in a community where there was none.
Muhammad-Argungu, also appreciated the governor for renovating the palace of Emir of Argungu to be one of the best palaces in the Fulani emirates.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera, commended the governor for facilitating the establishment Agric Processing Zone in Argungu.
“The processing zone, when actualised will make Kebbi an agricultural hub not only in Northern Nigeria but also across Nigeria,” he said.
The Monarch said over 500 hectares of land had been cleared and payment of compensation to land owners had already begun.
The emir thanked the governor for embarking on different developmental projects which transformed the state and encouraged the governor to keep the flag flying for the betterment of Kebbi people. (NAN).
