Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has urged leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to ensure that the party is united at the ward levels.

Eno made the call at Ibiakpan-Obotim during a PDP ward meeting which held concurrently across the 368 wards in the state.

The governor also urged leaders of the party to carry out massive community level mobilisation to swell its membership strength.

”The essense of this meeting is to reinforce the party’s support base. Leaders should know that they must receive everybody who joins the party,” he said.

He used the occasion to restate his administration’s commitment towards promoting the welfare of the people.

”Our administration will continue to enhance the infrastructure development of the state in order to justify the confidence of the people in the party.

”We have seen thousands of returnees to the party. It means that our people are convinced about the direction we are going,” he said.

He urged every stakeholder to join the move towards making the party strong at the grassroots.

”We need to increase our membership, I urge you to be loyal party men and women. Always give us feedbacks, so that we can work together,” he said.

Earlier, the PDP Chairman, Ibiakpan-Obotim Ward II, Mr Ukpong Michael, said that the party’s membership at the ward was highly encouraging.

He expressed satisfaction with Eno’s performance in less than one year in office as governor. (NAN)
