Alhaji Kwairanga, coach of Gombe United, on Sunday described their win against Niger Tornadoes of Minna as a big relief for his team.
Gombe United defeated visiting Niger Tornadoes by a lone goal in a Match Day 9 fixture of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
The match was played at the Pantami Township stadium Gombe.
The win is coming after three consecutive defeats which saw the team losing nine points.
Kwairanga described the three points as “very vital” in their effort to move up the league table.
“Getting maximum points against Niger Tornadoes is a big relief, and the most important thing for us today is our effort to climb up the league table,”he said.
He said that the game plan for the match was successfully executed with the home win.
“Our game plan worked because we were looking for the three points.
“We are appealing for financial motivation to ensure that we sustain this feat.
“We are not motivated at all; we are seeking and pleading with the state government to come to our rescue so that we can do more,” he said.
On his part, Maji Mohammed, Chief coach of Niger Tornadoes said his team would look forward to earn maximum points in subsequent matches.
Mohammed said though the match result for his team was negative in view of their effort to garner more points as the league advances.
“The match is a setback, because if we had gotten a point, it would have been a plus.
“We came here with a plan but it didn’t work as planned.
“This means that we will go back home and plan our next home game and see how to secure our own three points,”he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Umar Abba scored the lone goal of the match in the 13th minute. (NAN). READ ALSO:
