The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Command, says no fewer than seven persons lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident that occurred in Bauchi on Thursday.
The Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, said that two persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
Abdullahi said that the accident which involved a Sharon Galaxy bus with number plate YLA 88 ZY and a Toyota Hiace bus with number plate KUJ 182 TU, occurred in Haka Yafi village on Bauchi-Jos road at 12:30 p.m.
The sector commander, who said that it took the personnel of the corps about five minutes to arrive at the scene to clear the site, blamed the cause of the accident on speed violation.
He gave the name of the driver of the Sharon Galaxy bus simply as Mustapha Adamu.
“Nine people were involved in the crash and they are all male adults.
“Seven male adults died on the spot while two others sustained injuries,” he said.
He explained that the injured persons had been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH), Bauchi, for treatment.
Abdullahi added that the remains of the deceased were also deposited in the morgue of the same hospital for identification. (NAN)
