The Super Eagles fell to a 2-1 defeat against Algeria in their friendly encounter in Oran on Tuesday night, reports Promptnewsonline.com.
Algeria are now unbeaten in their last four encounters against the Super Eagles.
The game started on a frenetic pace with both teams attacking each other.
Lorient forward Terem Moffi profited from sluggish defending by the Algerian defence to hand the Super Eagles the lead on nine minutes.
Algeria piled pressure on the Super Eagles after the goal benefitting from some questionable decisions by the centre referee.
The Desert Foxes were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute after Frank Onyeka brought down Youcef Belaili inside the box.
Riyad Mahrez coolly slotted the ball home sending Francis Uzoho the wrong way.
Algeria took the game to the Super Eagles after the break with Islam Slimani coming close scoring his side’s second goal in the 55th minute.
The Desert Foxes took the lead for the first time in the game on 61st minute.
Youcef Atal’s long range shot sailed into the net with Uzoho completely out of position.
The Super Eagles failed to find the equaliser despite carving out a number of chances.
Jose Peseiro’s side will face Portugal in their next friendly in October.
