With less than two months to the start of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women’s World Cup final in France this summer, no fewer than 1 billion people are expected to watch the game.
According to FIFA an estimated 1.3 million fans will be on the stands to watch the matches in France while over 1 billion viewers worldwide will see the matches on television.
To ensure that fans keep tabs on the upcoming event, FIFA has since launched the global awareness with the commencement of FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour.
The trophy tour which anchored in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja last week saw the members of the Super Falcons squad, local school children, football stakeholders and the media attending the trophy display at Transcorp Hilton hotel Abuja.
Led by FIFA Chief Women’s Football Officer, Sarai Bareman and three other officials including the Trophy Bearer and ex-Super Eagles star, Peter Osaze Odemwingie, the arrival of the trophy in Nigeria elicited wide awareness in the country if the huge media attention it attracted is anything to rely upon.
