Barely 24 hours after African regional leaders and World leaders held a Summit in Paris on security challenge in Nigeria, another suicide bomb blast occurred Sunday night in Kano, north commercial centre, killing at least four people.
Prompt News gathered that the explosion occurred in a street at Sabon Gari, an area occupy mostly by non-indigenes.
According to Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adelere Shinaba, the blast killed three men and a girl.
He said, “At about 22:00 (21:00 GMT), we heard an explosion and immediately mobilised to the scene where we discovered a suicide bomber… Five people, including the bomber, were killed”.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. The northern Nigeria, especially the north-east has witnessed series of attacks by the dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram, that have killed thousands in the last couple of years.
The group has also carried out deadly attacks in the nation’s capital, Abuja, including the Police Force headquarters blast, the United Nations building bombing and recently two successive blasts at Nyanya, that left over 80 people dead and hundreds injured.
On Saturday, African regional leader converged on Paris, at the instance of France President Francois Hollande and attended by the representatives of the United States, United Kingdom and European Union.
The Summit resolved to sanction Boko Haram and Ansaru within the framework of the United Nations.
Already, World leaders are in unison to assist Nigeria to combat terrorism and most importantly, to rescue over 200 girls abducted from a Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State over a month ago.
