The long but exciting journey for 48 African nations to book their tickets for the finals of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda have started today, Thursday, September 24, 2026. It will run until Tuesday, October 6 at the completion of Matchday 2.
As at the time of this report the Matchday 1 first game between Namibia versus Congo in Group G was still on abroad at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone because Namibia lacked CAF-approved facilities at home.
Other matches scheduled for today
Thursday, September 24 are the Group E tie between DR Congo and Equatorial Guinea with venue at Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte, Kinshasa as well as the Group F match involving Mauritania and Central African Republic at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
Other fixtures are:
Group H: Libya vs Botswana – 16h00
Group C: Côte d’Ivoire vs Ghana – 19h00
Group E: Sierra Leone vs Zimbabwe – 19h00
Group G: Cameroon vs Comoros – 19h00
Group H: Tunisia vs Uganda – 19h00.
