The Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) Abuja has elected new Executive Members to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
FICAN is a association comprising correspondents who cover Finance and Business beats for frontline media houses in the country.
The election which held physically at the weekend in Abuja was conducted in compliance with the Federal Government’s COVID-19 protocols on public gatherings.
The election which was free, fair and credible saw the re-election of Mr. Nduka Chiejina as the Chairman for a final term of three years.
Other members of the executive include: Biodun Dare, who emerged Vice Chairman; Abdulwahab Isah, General Secretary; Benjamin Umuteme, Assistant General Secretary; Ayooade Olatokewa, Financial Secretary; Nse Anthony, Treasurer and Elizabeth Atte, the Public Relations Offcer.
After the EXCO took their oath of office, members tasked them to work selflessly for the growth of the Association.
A former Chairman of the Association, Mr. Cobham Nsa tasked the new EXCO to protect all members especially the weak. He also charged them to make the welfare of members a priority.
Responding on behalf of the Executive, Mr. Nduka Chiejina thanked members for the confidence reposed in them in past three years.
He also assured that the EXCO would protect the interest of all members, going forward.
Chiejina affirmed that the next three years would witness renewed commitment to attracting better opportunities for the FICAN members.
He also said that capacity building would be given priority going, even as he urged members to consider entrepreneurship as another means for financial security.
