The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Senator Gbenga Ashafa has promised that the the agency will work to meet the charge given to it by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa to deliver more affordable houses for the teeming population of Nigerians especially the middle and low income earners.
The minister who is the supervisory authority to FHA had on Thursday while speaking at the opening day of FHA Golden Jubilee Celebration at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja, said FHA has not done well in the delivery of houses and therefore should use the next 50 years to deliver more houses to Nigerians.
He said under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu, he wants to see FHA wake up to its responsibilities just as he demanded that in the next 50 years, FHA must deliver millions of houses to Nigerians especially the middle and low income earners, pointing out that affordable houses are fundamental rights of Nigerians.
The Minister therefore tasked FHA to build many houses, sell them and make profits.
However, Ashafa has taken up this challenge as he has pledged the Authority will work harder by exploring all avenues to meet the expectations of Nigerians in the delivery of affordable houses to them.
In his Closing Remarks on Friday, the last day of the Two-Day Golden Jubilee Celebration Symposium at ICC Abuja, Ashafa said the entire management of FHA has resolved to double their efforts to achieve the target set for them by the supervising Minister of Housing and Urban Development to deliver more affordable houses for Nigerians.
Said he: “I want to congratulate all of us in FHA for the Golden Jubilee Celebration. I know that we have done well in the past 50 years but like the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development said on Thursday, FHA has not met the expectations of many Nigerians by providing as many affordable houses as expected of the Authority in the past 50 years.
