Rangers defenders Emmanuel Fernandez can’t hide his excitement after making his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Prompt News reports.
Fernandez was a half-time substitute for the three-time African champions in the international friendly played in Antalya, Turkey.
“It’s my home nation, it’s where my family is from, it’s where I am from,” Fernandez told Rangers TV.
“It’s something that I have always wanted to happen.”
Fernandez further reflected on the pride his call-up has brought to his loved ones, expressing gratitude for the chance to represent the Super Eagles on the global stage.
“People probably thought I couldn’t have got there. And I always had faith in myself that I would get there,” he stated.
“I know my family are proud. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
