Nigeria’s Falconets rounded off their preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Korea Republic at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Mary Mamudu continued her impressive scoring form by giving Nigeria the lead in the 29th minute.
The forward was also on target in the Falconets’ previous warm-up game against Poland last Saturday, underlining her importance to Moses Aduku’s side ahead of the global tournament.
Nigeria held on to their advantage for much of the contest, but Korea Republic fought back late on and equalised from the penalty spot 12 minutes from time.
The Falconets will now shift their focus to the World Cup, where they will begin their Group F campaign against Spain at the Arena Sosnowiec in Sosnowiec on Monday, September 7.
Aduku’s side will return to the same venue three days later to face China in their second group fixture on Thursday, September 10.
Nigeria will then conclude their group-stage campaign against New Caledonia at the Stadion Miejski ŁKS Łódź in Łódź on Sunday, September 13.
The Falconets will head into the tournament encouraged by their performances in the warm-up matches as they look to make a strong start to their World Cup campaign.
