Those who show concerns towards humanity, live the fullest of life
…. Anonymous.
Our society in this clime is such that often cares less about others, reason why it has failed to evolve as expected. The spirit to help push the cause of humanity by assisting lesser people has always refused to feature in our actions and decisions.
Humanitarian interventions needed from people of substance to rid our societies of poverty and underdevelopment are mostly absent and readily unavailable. As a people, we often underplay the importance of individual social responsibilities and place more emphasis on government interventions, even when it is already established that government with its limited resources can not and will not singularly rescue our societies from penury and underdevelopment.
Of course our local societies would have experienced much growth and development, if only service to humanity is treasured and given the deserved attention by those whose economic advantage is limitless. Collaborative efforts are essential therefore in assisting our societies to attaining prosperity.
The name of a prominent Akungba indigene stands tall when it comes to giving back to society and selfless stewardship towards community. development.
Akinrogun Alaba Yusuf is undisputably one of the few personalities that have delivered humanitarian services to promoting the living standard of Akungba people.
As President of the most viable social club in Akungba, the great Ultimate Club, he initiated an education support for indigent Akungba natives in tertiary institutions of learning. This annual bursary award programme championed by Ultimate Cub has helped a sizeable number of Akungba indigenes to lessen the financial pains in their educational pursuit.
On a personal account, Akinrogun Alaba Yusuf has continued to put smiles on the faces of the locals – especially during Yuletide period during which time through his better life programme for the aged and widows in his Okele Quarter homefront.
The distribution of food items and cash on regular basis to this set of needy community folks, often helped at reducing poverty and hunger in our community.
His contribution, leading role and personal commitment to the ressucitation of Akun-Day Festival which has assumed a national and continental reckoning, remains one laudable effort in his struggle to help change the ugly narrative of disunity and retrogression in Akungba Community. This effort has also helped in promoting the cultural heritage of the University Town.
It is therefore not surprising to me and many of his followers when the the Alale-in-Council decided to honour one of their illustrious sons, Alaba Yusuf and his amiable wife, Laide, with the titles of Akinrogun and Yeye Akinrogun of Akungba land respectively.
To Akinrogun Alaba Yusuf, you have truly paid your bills towards communal growth, development and prosperity. This honour being bestowed on you and your wife is therefore a well deserved one.
Oye amori oooooo.
Hearty congratulations Sir
