The top hierarchy of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is unaware of the unveiling of new home and away kits for the Super Eagles, PROMPT NEWS has learnt.
The United States of America-based kits manufacturing giants, NIKE, earlier on Monday unveiled new home and away kits for the national team.
But, a top official of the NFF who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that even the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation was not aware of the purported unveiling of new kits.
“The NFF is not aware that Nigeria’s 2024 home and away kits have been unveiled by an American kits manufacturing company. The best we know of the new kits is that NFF top officials and their NIKE counterparts planned to meet in Marrakech, Morocco during the Super Eagles’ International friendly matches with Ghana and Mali.
“The story is not true because anyone familiar with Nigeria’s football colours from time immemorial can attest that our home stripes have remained all-white while away colours have been all-green outfit”.
“Even the NFF General Secretary who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the federation is not aware of the unveiling of the new NIKE kits. So this is why the NFF has not issued an official statement.”
NIKE had said the Super Eagles and all the national teams now have to adorn all green design as the new away kits while white is their new home kits even as the newly designed white jersey has a mixture of green around the collar and shorts.
PROMPT NEWS recalls thatl the Super Eagles will be in action in a friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana at the Grande de Marrakech on Friday.
The three-time African champions will also face the Eagles of Mali at the same venue four days later.
