Super Eagles camp will open in Abuja on Sunday, October 6 preparatory to the 2014 world cup first leg play-off qualifier against Ethiopia, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed. The crucial game is slated for October 13 in Addis Ababa.
NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu told Prompt News Online that the match is being taken with all seriousness by the federation, adding that plans have been concluded for the team to train for five days in Abuja, between Oct.7 and Oct 11 before departing for Addis aboard a chartered flight on Oct 12.
“This game is very critical to us and we are giving it all the seriousness it deserves. We are doing all we can to secure entry visas for the delegation and team officials before departure.
“You know the Ethiopians are eager to qualify for their first ever world cup and playing against the African champions, they will prepare seriously,” Amadu said.
Speaking further he said arrangements have been made for Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia, to meet with the advance party when they arrive Addis Ababa, early next week.
This, he said would enable the Nigerian delegation put all necessary logistic requirements in place before the match to enhance Nigeria’s chances of picking the maximum three points against the home team.
The NFF scribe pointed out that all hands are on deck towards making the return-leg in Calabar on Nov. 16 an easy game for Nigeria.
