Due to inability of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to secure financial backing in engaging the new Super Eagles Head Coach, the Chieftains of the glasshouse have drafted its Technical Director Austin Equavoen to take charge of the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers billed for 7th of September in Uyo, Akwa State and against Rwanda.
Prompt News gathered authoritatively from the football house that the Presidency through the sports ministry has directed NFF to show cash evidence or sponsor willing to bankroll the payment of would-be foreign coach salary for one year and above.
Our source who pleaded not to be mentioned revealed that no company or individual have agreed to take up the responsibility due economic situation in the country but the NFF is working hard to secure financial sponsor for the foreign super eagles handler immediately after September AFCON qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Austin Equavoen will be assisted by Ladan Bosso and Ilechukwu Rangers Int’l head coach, our source said.
The NFF will this weekend made public the names of super eagles players invited for the AFCON qualifiers.
Though the Technical Committee headed by Ahlan Iwuwa who also doubles as NFF head of Marketing met last week to look at the foreign coaches who applied for the Super Eagles job but couldn’t speak to media on their recommendations after deliberating for 7 hours.
Efforts made to speak to the head of Secretariat, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi on this development proved abortive as he was not on seat when Prompt News visited his office.
