Rangers International FC of Enugu on Tuesday defeated FC Inter of Obiagu 2-0 to book a semi-finals date with its Feeder team in the ongoing Enugu State FA Cup.
Onyebuchi Ogbu from FC Inter put Rangers in front with a well-placed nodding into his own net in the 19th minute.
The goal came from a well-tailored crossing from Uche Nwofor after Inter had dictated the play for 15th minutes of the first half.
Nwofor put rangers 2-0 up in 47th minute to settle the matter for the flying antelopes.
With the result, Rangers will be tackle their Feeder team in the semi-finals on May 22, while the other semi-final between Crime Busters and Disdevt in Afrik will take place on Saturday May 19.
The Coach of Inter, Fred Okpara, said that his team gave Rangers a run for their money but were beaten due to lack of experience.
“The first goal was scored because of lack of concentration, while the second goal was made possible by Rangers players’ experience.
“We matched them ball to ball and suffocated them in the first 15th minutes of play before our own goal,’’ he said.
He added that the club was not playing the FA Cup or the state league to win the trophy but to expose the players to the world.
“Our aim for Inter players is not for them to win trophies for us but to expose them and take them abroad for greener pastures.
“Yes we are out of the FA Cup in the hands of a superior club, Rangers, and now we are going back to the drawing board for the forthcoming state league.
