Young people in their thousands answered the clarion call in Ibadan today (Tuesday) to continue the protest against police brutality by operatives of the now disbanded Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) with #EndSARSNow.
The crowd converged on Iwo road roundabout, blocking traffic from Lagos-Ibadan expressway as well as Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha road.
From Iwo road, the protesters marched to the Secretariat, the seat of Oyo State Government but were prevented from entering the complex to see Governor @seyiamakinde.
The protest in Ibadan is not just about angry youths, Nollywood actors based in the city also joined them in solidarity.
Popular actors like Muyiwa Ademola, a.k.a ‘Authentic’, Toyin Aimaku Abraham and Kehinde Bankole joined the protesters all united in demanding #EndSARSNow.
Prompt News Online reports that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had on Sunday announced disbandment of FSARS in line with the demand of the protesters.
But rather than leaving the streets, the protesters are insisting that President Muhammadu Buhari must address them and issue Executive Order disbanding FSARS as the IGP could not be trusted.
