The Emir of Daura, Faruq Umar-Faruq, has attributed the growing insecurity in Nigeria to poor upbringing, among other societal factors.
He made this statement on Thursday while receiving the Katsina State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Aminu Datti, during a courtesy visit to his palace.
Emphasizing the critical role of security in the state and the nation, the emir called for collective efforts to tackle the rising challenges.
He urged the NSCDC commandant to adopt more strategic approaches, demonstrate stronger commitment, and enhance collaboration with other security agencies to address the situation effectively.
Welcoming Mr. Datti to his new role in Katsina, the emir expressed his best wishes and prayed for divine guidance and success in his leadership.
In his remarks, Mr. Datti acknowledged his longstanding familiarity with the Daura Emirate but explained that his visit was primarily to introduce himself formally as the new NSCDC Commandant in the state.
He stated that the visit was also an opportunity to pay homage, seek royal guidance, and request the emir’s support in fulfilling his duties effectively.
Highlighting the vital role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and order, Mr. Datti stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between the NSCDC and the emirate.
He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the agency’s performance and assured the emir that the command remains open to advice, guidance, and recommendations from the traditional council to improve security across the state.
