By Gracious Akujobi A member of the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Austel Elumelu has charged the Super Falcons to be more clinical in front of goal if they must achieve results.
Elumelu gave the charge after watching the Falcons maul Capital City Doves, a women league division one side 8-0 in a test game in Abuja on Thursday.
He urged the players to always take their chances in front of goal adding that scoring goals is very essential ingredient of the game and can never be enough.
“If you have the chance to score as many as 20-0 goals in a match, don’t hesitate to do so as fans would appreciate it. Don’t play to the gallery, take your chances as they come” he told them.
“Learn to score goals as the opportunity provides itself because it builds confidence and develops you mentally too. You should be professional in every match, no matter the opposition because whatever you play in a test match will be replicated in a real match situation.
“Falcons have been the best in Africa and I urge you to keep the flame burning. The flame must not quench in your hands.
“Think and play football because that is what you came here to do. Be disciplined and follow the instructions of your coaches so that you will excel”.
Elumelu finally called on the Falcons to go to Rwanda and win so that the second leg will be mere formality.
