The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says it has provided free forms for the physically challenged and women aspirants for the local government elections, scheduled for April 11, 2022, in Katsina State.
The State’s PDP Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf-Majigiri, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Katsina.
According to him, “we have fixed Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, for the Chairmanship primary election across the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, and polls for councilorship will take place on Feb. 5.
“As part of our efforts to be fair to all party members, any physically-challenged aspirants and women interested in the election will have the forms free.
“And also, for the position of Chairman, the form is N50,000, plus N10,000 for the expression of interest, while that of councilors is N20,000, plus N5,000 for the expression of interest.
“The sales of the forms began on Monday and will end on Jan. 31, while Tuesday, Feb. 1, is the last day for the return of filled forms by the candidates.
“The screening for the councilorship aspirants will take place from Tuesday, Feb. 1, to Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, while the screening appeal will take place on Friday, Feb. 4.
“And the Chairmanship screening will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 2, while the Chairmanship screening appeal will hold on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022.
Yusuf-Majigiri explained that the Councillorship primary elections and the election of three ad-hoc delegates screening appeal will take place on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022.
He added that Feb. 8, 2022, has been fixed as the last day for the submission of the forms to the state Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC).
The Chairman called on the KTSIEC to ensure that free, fair, transparent and acceptable elections are conducted, saying this will determine how the 2023 general elections will be conducted. (NAN)
