The management of Ekiti Queens Football Club says goalkeeper Kehinde Afuye’s invitation by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the national under-17 women team’s camp is well-deserved.
Tolulope Alabi, the club’s Media Head, on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti said in a statement that Afuye’s performance in the just-concluded 2021/2022 NWFL Nationwide League made the invitation justifiable.
“She conceded just one goal throughout the competition, and she has proven that she has all it takes to stand toe-to-toe with her counterparts in the top leagues across the world,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team is currently in camp in Abuja preparing for the two fourth/final round matches in the African Qualifiers.
The team known as Flamingos are preparing to take on Ethiopia, with the first leg match being an away game scheduled for between May 20 and May 22.
“The entire management of Ekiti Queens FC, technical crew, players and fans across the state wish Afuye well during this camping period,’’ Alabi said. (NAN)
