Former spokesperson of Afenifere and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Dayo Adeyeye has described as “self-deceit taken too far” claim by the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi that he was seeking re-election because of clamour by Ekiti people that he should seek second term.
Adeyeye, who said it was obvious that Ekiti people are tired of the Fayemi-led government, reiterated his conviction that; “Ekiti people will vote Fayemi and his evil government out of office on June 21, this year.”
In a statement signed by the Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Bisi Kolawole, Prince Adeyeye said; “I couldn’t but laugh when I read in the newspapers that Fayemi said he had accepted the calls by Ekiti people to seek re-election because I wonder whether it was the teachers, civil servants, health workers and pensioners that are being treated with contempt by the State government that called for Fayemi’s re-election.
“May be it was those Lagos and Ibadan based musicians and movie artistes that he has been bringing to Ekiti State to perform at the expense of the people or those foreigners that have been causing capital flight in the State that called on Fayemi to seek a second term? Definitely it cannot be those pensioners that are being owed their pensions and gratuities, the teachers that are being terrorised with unnecessary competency test and the health workers whose Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) are not being paid.”
While urging PDP members and supporters in the State to remain calm and steadfast, Adeyeye said those thinking that the selection of the party’s flag-bearer would cause crisis, and that they would benefit from the crisis should perish the thought because all the aspirants, including himself have agreed to work together for the success of the party irrespective of who is picked as the candidate.
He said; “Even though we have worked very hard for the governorship ticket, we in PAAM will work assiduously for the success of the PDP not-minding whoever that is picked as the candidate.”
The governorship aspirant, who called on security agencies in the country to give more attention to Ekiti from now henceforth, noted that; “With the appointment of Bimbo Owolabi, a known violent person as the Director General of Fayemi’s campaign team, it has become clearer that Fayemi will rely solely on violence before, during and after the election.”
He said it was on record that it was Bimbo Daramola, who destroyed over 5,000 votes in Ire-Ekiti during the 2007 House of Assembly election and the same Daramola also demonstrated his violent tendencies at the INEC collation centre during the 2009 rerun election.
