Determined to conduct a free, fair and credible election on Saturday in Ekiti state, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday hold a Stakeholders Meeting in Ado-Ekiti with all the candidates, political parties, the Police, traditional rulers and other players in Ekiti state affairs.
Also, the Commission will on Thursday host a
Peace Accord where all the candidates in the Ekiti governorship election will commit to a rancor free polling by signing a Peace Accord in the presence of former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar and Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese and Secretary of National Peace Committee (NPC).
Meanwhile, the Commission is currently fine-tuning modalities for a hitch-free governorship election in Ekiti state.
Aside deployment of staff and dispatch of non-sensitive electoral materials, INEC has also lined up series of engagement with major contenders and the voting populace.
Speaking on the Commission’s level of preparation for the election, Chinwe Ogbuka,
Deputy Director, Public Affairs at INEC Headquarters, Abuja, explained the essence of the Stakeholders meeting, saying that it is part of the efforts to build confidence in the election.
In another development, INEC has commenced the distribution of press kits to all accredited media organizations ahead of this Saturday’s governorship election.
