Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo has heaped praises on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of Ekiti state Governorship Election on Saturday.
He also commended the large turn out of voters to exercise their civic duty just as he urged them to maintain the good conduct they have so far exhibited throughout the day.
Speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote at his Balogun Polling Unit in his home town Iyin Ekiti Ifelodun Local Government Area (LGA) Otunba Adebayo said there has been a marked improvement in the conduct of the election by INEC.
Said he: “I am very satisfied with the conduct of the election and our people have been peaceful. I believe part of the decorum we are witnessing is the use of BVAS by INEC. If this machine was in use earlier, I would not have failed my own governorship election”.
The former Governor of Ekiti state posited that the mass turn out of voters shows that people of Ekiti are ready to participate in the nation’s Electoral process.
He also commended security agents, INEC officers and adhoc staff for exhibiting professionalism in the discharge of their duty.
The Minister however urged INEC to ensure perfect working on BVAS across the state to enable all those on queue to exercise their franchise.
