A coalition of youth groups in Edo State has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC at both state and federal levels to immediately prevail on the Edo state government to start the disbursement of bailout funds to the affected council areas.
The group under the auspices of ‘Edo Youths Front’ in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Dennis Osaretin Agho, after a stake holders’ meeting in Lagos, said it might be forced to pressurize the State Legislative Assembly to commence an impeachment process against Governor Adams Oshiomole
The youth groups said “after a careful deliberation and a state wide consultative forum held with major stake holders across the 18 local government council areas it was agreed that the impact of the federal government bailout fund was not being felt through the state.”
According to the youths, government refusal to account for over One Trillion Naira federal allocation that has accrued to the state in the last seven years, unconstitutional collection of illegal fees and levies and double taxation of the poorest of the poor of Edo state and blatant refusal of Governor Oshomole to heed to cries of millions of concerned Edo people” the group also called on the Government of Edo state to retrace its steps and provide quality leadership.
The youths however vowed to remain calm in the face of arduous aggression and ill treatments currently being meted out on them by government of Edo state.
“We have the voting power and we are mobilizing thousands of unemployed youths in the state, we will remain calm because very soon, our votes will speak,” Agho said.
