National Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition and Light Weapon,NATCOM has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
In a congratulatory message to President Tinubu signed by the Interim Director General, Nigerian National Commission, NATCOM, Dr. Agaba Iduh Fidel, which was made available to journalists in Abuja, Monday, reads in part” This noble and well deserved appointment is a further confirmation of your strategic leadership and outstanding qualities/track records of performance as endowed and crowned by God almighty”.
In the message, NATCOM further expressed strong confident on President Tinubu’s leadership as ECOWAS Chairman to give quick assent to its bill currently in his office while praying for a speedy establishment and take off of the Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferations of Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons, NATCOM, in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the group has remained optimistic that its bill when finally assent to by President Tinubu would help in addressing the concerns of heightened insecurity caused by banditry, kidnapping, secessionist agitations, insurgences among others which have become a threat to the National Security in Nigeria.
The Interim Director General equally lamented availability of many illegal arms and ammunitions in the hands of the non-state actors within and outside the ECOWAS ungoverned spaces, disclosing that it’s their earnest prayers that God almighty will grant President Tinubu all the necessary arsenals to pilot the affairs of ECOWAS beyond expectations.
