The Super Falcons will put up a respectable performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, according to captain, Onome Ebi.
Australia and New Zealand will host the competition from July 20 to August 20.
The Super Falcons have been drawn in a difficult group that has Olympic champions Canada, co-hosts Australia and Republic of Ireland.
Despite the enormity of the task before the team, Ebi is upbeat they will do well at the competition.
“I want to tell Nigerians that we are going to Australia, not just to participate, but to surpass our record in the last outing. I believe we will make Nigerians proud,” the 40-year-old said at the farewell dinner organised for the meeting in Abuja on Saturday night.
The West Africans were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Germany four years ago in France.
Nigeria’s first match of the finals is against Canada, at Melbourne’s Rectangular Stadium, on Friday, 21 July, before clashes with co-host nation Australia and the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, 27 July and Monday, 31 July respectively, at the Lang Park in Brisbane.
