In the spirit of fairness, the Department of State Security Service (DSS) has arrested the founder of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Mujahideen Asari-Dokubo for making inciting comments.
The DSS has been widely criticized for arresting a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasir el-Rufai, over his comments about 2015 election while shielding Asari-Dokubo.
El-Rufai was recently quoted by a national daily as saying that “the next elections are likely to be violent and that many people are likely going to die”, prompting his arrest by the DSS.
The DSS spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, thereafter, issued a statement warning politicians against making provocative statements capable of heating up the polity on the road to 2015.
However, the former Niger Delta activist, Asari-Dokubo, had made similar inciting statements in the past that were not considered weighty enough for his arrest or invitation for questioning.
It is on record that Asari-Dokubo, had said on a national television that “2015 is already a settled matter; Goodluck Jonathan will be President in 2015.
“If they say the blood of the dogs and the baboon will be soaked in water on the street, in blood on the street, in salt water on the street, we will help them soak them in blood”.
