The Department of State Services (DSS) Edo Command, has arrested two suspected internet fraudsters, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Mr Brown Ekwoaba, the director of the service in the state disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities of the service in Benin on Wednesday.

He said the suspects were arrested for using the name of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and that of the First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari to defraud unsuspecting public.

Ekwoaba said that one of the suspects aged 30, was arrested through a coordinated tactical operation on July 25 in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area.

He said that the suspect allegedly owned a fictitious Facebook account created using the name of the vice president.

Ekwoaba further said that another suspect aged 18, was arrested on July 26 at Old Agbor Road, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area for impersonating the wife of Nigeria’s President.

He said the suspect allegedly created an Instagram account with the name and picture of the First Lady for the purpose of swindling unsuspecting public.

The DSS director said the two suspects had confessed to the crimes, and would soon be arraigned before the courts.

“The Service wishes to advice youths against engaging or contemplating to engage in fraudulent acts, there can never be any shortcut to wealth,” he said.
