The Police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Aaron Lektai, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a minibus valued at N2 million.
The defendant, a driver residing at 15, Banana Estate, Ojodu, Lagos, was tried on charges of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in Sept. 2023 at Suit 103, Opic Plaza, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja.
Akeem said the defendant obtained a minibus, valued at N2 million, on hire purchase from Living Point Limited Company on the agreement of paying the money back in installments.
The prosecutor, however, said since then, the defendant disappeared with the bus with all efforts made to get the bus back failing.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 287 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendant a bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case till March 27 for mention. (NAN)
