The Doctors Without Borders, known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), says it will begin a five year health intervention project in Bauchi State in February 2022.
Dr Mohammed Dalal, the mission’s Director in Nigeria, made the disclosure in Bauchi on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
He said the intervention would focus on Tuberculosis (TB) and Nutrition and is expected to begin in Bogoro Local Government Area of the state.
He revealed that the organisation had in 2021 managed over 10,000 cholera cases across the state.
He explained that under-5 tuberculosis issues would be given serious attention.
Responding, Gov. Bala Mohammed who described the initiative as a welcome development assured the unconditional support of his administration in executing the project.
He added that the state government would collaborate with Doctors Without Borders to achieve the desired objectives.
“We will improve the welfare of our medical personnel for optimal impact,” he assured.
He said his administration had renovated and constructed 400 Primary Health Care clinics, saying it would soon employ additional 100 qualified medical doctors. (NAN)
