South African Disc Jockey, Happiness Ndlovu, popularly known as “DJHappyGal”, has commended female DJs who have over the years mastered the craft and carved a niche for themselves.
Ndlovu, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Durban, said it was no doubt that female DJs were giving their male counterparts a run for their money.
She noted that she was inspired to embrace the profession after carrying out a research and observed that the industry was predominantly dominated by men.
“I came in with the intention of changing a perspective that the sector is dominated by the male gender and now there are many female DJs doing great. I am happy and fulfilled with this also.
“At this stage of my career, I am at a point where I realised that I took the right decision of embracing being a DJ,” she said.
Ndlovu, who released her first musical album in 2010, said she had also produced more singles on a yearly basis since then.
“I love my craft, I can play piano and a couple of other musical instruments and I am currently a radio presenter.
“I want people to remember me for my craft as a DJ who made people laugh because her kind of music is comical,” she said. (NAN)
